COT Cat Chat

English is a great language but it is short a few expressions. So here are a few definitions from our cat vocab:

Snizzle circle: a hair band. The origin of this term lies in Target's baby name, Mr Snizzles, as well as in the fact that these soft stretchy hair bands are his favourite toys.
Squizzle: to pet a cat, usually by bunching your fingers and running them under the chin or at the bit where the tail and backbone meet. (Note: Tom says, "scrizzle" so this word already has UK and US variations!)
Fuzzle: a friendly nickname for any cat but also a verb that describes those times when you're lying flat somewhere with a kitty on top of you who is absolutely boneless with bliss because you are squizzling him.
Kitty collapso: when a cat is so relaxed when sleeping that you check his breathing to make sure he's OK.

So this is how you get, "Target was playing with his snizzle circle until Au asked for squizzles. Then Target got all jealous so we fuzzled for a bit and now he's completely kitty collapso."

Happy Cats On Tuesday! If you want to see more fuzzies, check out Gattina's blog or the links in the box in the sidebar.

Hello dear friend!
Very instructive post!
To answer your question what amuses me ,here a short list:
1)Taking naps most of the day, that comes absolutely on the top of the list;
2)Being petted by my "Beans"or "humans";
3)sunbathing on my balcony;
4)chasing toys around the house.

Just to mention a few.
Many thanks for your always gentle visit and comments on my blog! You are a good friend!
purrs and love

Great new words that I didn't know before! Is a squizzle like a scritch?

Looks like he is annoyed... :D

p/s: regarding ur question of chee cheong fun - it is a rice flour roll which if eaten plain or with just a sweet black soya sauce and sesame oil, then it is considered a veggy dish. However, if it is stuffed with meat, say shrimps or pork, then is not veggy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_noodle_roll

Love it! Espesh kitty collapso! We see a lot of such cases in my home. We have a few cat chat terms in my house too!

"Huffy wuffy": When cats pretend to go off in a huff (e.g. when I chase them off the TV, fridge or microwave) but aren't really angry. They turn back to look at you with a twinkle in their eye to see if you'll come after them with an apology and a hug.

"Catchy": When we tickle them by pretending to swoop down and catch their limbs, belly or the base of their tails.

"Sphinxy": Cats go all sphinxy when they sit upright in sphinx position. It is funnier still when they get sleepy in this position and start nodding off.

"Roundy": All my cats are roundies after a good meal. When they are roundies, it's best to lay off doing the catchy.

I love the cat vocabulary. We have nicknames for our cats and talk to them in baby talk some of the time. It's probably really funny to anyone who doesn't know us well.

And you are right! My kids were not happy about housework at the nature center. I'm not sure what kind of nature work we were expecting, but that wasn't it!

Haha! We kitty collapso after being squizzled!

Ee Lynn: Love the "Huffy wuffy". We play that game too. With "tail twizzles" where we tug tails very gently to show we've won - and sometimes get nipped and growled at in mock revenge :-)

Your "Sphinxy" is our "Mandarin cat"!
