Monday Mancats: Camouflage Kitty

This is me, sneaking about in the ferns, waiting for that pesky bird to come down close enough for me to catch it.

I’m totally covert but for some reason the featherbrain won’t come within paw’s reach. And I've been hiding here for HOURS!!!

I blame the servant. Taking my picture gave away my super secret position. Still, she's good with the ham and biscuits so I'll forgive her - provided she hands over a generous share of yesterday’s left over roast chicken!

After all, a hunting cat has got to keep up his strength.

I'm going back out for another steak-out. But first I'll check out my Mancat friends. Maybe their luck is better than mine.

Monday Mancats: Target Speaks

Hey!!!! is this thing working? is this how you do it??? Yes? Cool! Hey, can you see me? Target here! My big pal Au is asleep in his box right now so I get to talk on the blog! Isn't it great?!

This is me in my favourite seat. It's driftwood and as you can see it's got a hole that's just purrrfect for me. I fit right inside! Also it's a great way to see the creamy target circles on my side. That's how I got my name!

This typing is not easy on the paws. I'm going to check out my mancat in training friends at the Mancat Club. See you next week!

Monday Mancats: Mancats Don't Diet!

Au is getting too fat around the middle. Our friend sent him some imported cat food with wrapping that announces in a dozen languages how wonderful, healthy etc the biscuits are. They're supposed to be part of a calorie controlled diet.

And what does Au say, "I'm not eating this! Mancats Don't Diet!"

In the end we gave them to the outside stray cats who live in the storm drain. Looks like Au is going to keep those love-handles and furry tiger tummy a while longer.

MM Au Speaks

Au here. I thought that seeing she's gone out, I'd sneak in and have a word. After all, it is Mancat Monday, not Human Monday, right?

I need some advice. As she's told you, we've got this mancat in training running around. I quite like the little sprog. For one thing he's got that kitten cute thing going for him. (You see him on the roof in the last post? Isn't he a little poser???) I didn't appreciate his looks at first but now I've trained him to use it for begging extra treats that's coming in handy for both of us!

But he will pounce on me all the time. When I'm awake it's great to wrestle. But can't a senior cat sleep undisturbed in his own box? Or on his own bed? Or his personal part of the sofa? Not in this house he can't!

I've tried to hold him down and bite him but it only makes him purr. So I want some advice: how do you mancats out there deal with overactive little tails?

By the way, this is me on the bed in my favourite pose. It's pretty rare to see me like this nowadays - usually I'm wearing that infernal kitten! Help me, please!

MM Au teaches Target a Lesson

Au is turning out to be an excellent tutor. He caught a small rat and brought it in to show Target.

Au dropped it on the floor, looked at our ten months old a man cat in training, and said "Meow!" Very definitely cat for "There you go, this is what I've been telling you about!"

Target approached it cautiously, patted it with his paw and was so excited, all he could do was purr. Au swelled with pride. I think he had more fun showing off his catch than he did killing it.

As the rat was dead, I let the two cats enjoy themselves for a while. Then I distracted them with supper and quietly disposed of the corpse.

I appreciate the care Au takes of his small friend but I secretly with he wouldn't be so thorough about the whole thing. I could have skipped this lesson no problem!

Monday Mancats: Happy Birthday Qwill!

qwillQwill who lives with my mum in San Agustin de Guadalix near Madrid in Spain is 16 years this week.

As you can see, Qwill is an aristocratic kitty. He loves people but he demands a lot of respect. This is not a cat whose tail you can tug playfully as you pass by!

Qwill has recently moved house (the second time in three years!) and is currently claiming his territory, advising the new neighbours of the proper way to greet, pet and spoil Siamese cats, and generally getting out and about.

Because he's getting to be an old boy, he jumps out of the living room window into the garden, but demands to be let in via the terrace door. And being a meezer with a raucous wail, he gets what he wants.

You've got to love those Siamese cats!
