About Ellen Whyte

My mum is Dutch and my father Scots so I'm a mix of both. I was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
and lived there for the first 11 years of my life. Then my family moved to Scotland. When I was 18, my family moved to Spain.

My brother Ian was also born in Amsterdam but he left The Netherlands when he was 2, left Scotland when he was 9,
and lived in Spain for more than 10 years. He is therefore better described a half Scots and half Spanish.

I studied Psychology at Stirling University, and then went off to work in the family business for a few years.
During that time I babysat British engineers in Spain and took care of the company in Indonesia.

I met my husband Tom very briefly in Spain in 1987? 1988? or sometime around then.
I met him again in 1992 and we became friends. We eventually began dating.
We've been married for about 12 or 13 years but as we never remember the date of our wedding,
we have to consult my mum to see how long it's been.

Tom and I now live in Malaysia. He's an academic and I write fulltime.
We also have two lodgers, cats Au and Target, who rule our lives with a firm velvet paw.

I write for lots of clients including The Star in Malaysia, Straits Times in Singapore, Brunei Times in Brunei, South China Post in Hong Kong, Women's Weekly in Singapore and Malaysia, and Her World. I have also written about 6 books of which Logomania and Katz Tales are the latest publications. If you want to know more about my work, visit my full writing credits.
